PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Started the career in 2000 January as a consultant in Bharath Hospital, Kottayam which is a 300 bedded tertiary care center. Then, shifted to Pushpagiri medical college on 2007, Thiruvalla as an assistant professor of cardiology for the tenure of one and halfyears.
CURRENT POSITION, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Joined Lisie hospital as a consultant in 2009 January and currently working as a senior consultant cardiologist and director of cardiovascular clinical research. Lisie hospital is a 750 bedded tertiary care centre which provides state of the art facilities and infrastructure. The cardiovascular division is one of the largest of its kind in the country and it has a 24 bedded modern CCU with all the high tech facilities, 4 cath labs and non- invasive lab with the highest end echo and stress test machines. The institute also has a cardiovascular clinical research wing which is quite active and involved in multiple randomized controlled trials and registries atinternational as well as national level.
My major clinical work is in invasive cardiology. The institution is a high volume centre where we perform around 1500 angioplasties and 5000 diagnostic procedures annually apart from the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in paediatric cardiology and electrophysiology. My personal work includes around 400-500 angioplasties and 1200-1500 diagnostic cath works annually. I am in charge of the cardiovascular clinical research department and Heart failure clinic. The institution is accredited for postgraduate training program (Diploma of national board – DNB) in cardiology and I am the doctor in charge of the DNB training programme. I am also in charge of the Heart Failure Clinic which is an initiative to ensure the standard care for acute and chronic heart failure patients.
